I know it sounds crazy, but for the last 10 years I've lived where there is NO pizza delivery - and where we are moving is also without this modern day convenience. If you agree with me about the delight of piping hot pizza, then you're going to love this recipe for pizza rolls.
What you need:
Refridgerated Pizza Dough
Pepperoni
Mozzarella String Cheese
Pizza Sauce (squeeze bottles are wonderful!)
Optional: olive oil and herbs for finished look.
How this goes together - open the dough and cut in half, longwise, before unrolling. Unroll the first half, stretching it as needed. At the edge, place a few pieces of pepperoni. Then place your string cheese over them. Run a line of sauce along the cheese. Fold in each end and roll the dough until seams join. Seal well and cut your pizza roll free from the remaining dough. Repeat until all the dough is used. You should have at least 8 rolls.
Put a small amount of olive oil across the top of each pizza roll. Sprinkle with a favorite seasoning (suggestions: pasta sprinkles, garlic salt, onion powder, basil).
Bake in a preheated, 425 degree, oven for 10 minutes. I use a pizza pan (holes in the bottom) to make a crisper dough. If you are worried that you didn't get your seams tight and that the melting cheese will leak, just go with a regular baking sheet.
Add a little extra sauce for dipping and enjoy - right from the oven!
Looks yummy and so easy to do!
ReplyDeleteNow that I've actually eaten them, I guarantee they are delicious! I'll be making them for home soon and sharing the recipe with friends. Especially those with teens! Sounds perfect for them - they can make their own, adding whatever "toppings" they want inside.
